Different Phases of Film Production


Vocabulary: Pre-Production, Principal Photography, Post-Production, Planning, Shot List, Editing


Pre-Production is the planning before principal photography (filming production), starting with producers and directors to focus on budgeting, scheduling, location scouting, assembling the crew and casting. 

Principal photography is the filming of a production when the camera starts rolling on a shoot, utilizing the shot list. 

Post-Production is the process of completing a film with editing in picture/ sound and visual effects.
